Molasses Sugar Cookies2
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. ground ginger
¾ cup margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
sugar for decoration
¼ cup Brer Rabbit Light or Dark Molasses
In medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt; set aside. In large bowl, with electric mixer, beat sugar and margarine over medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and egg until well combined. Gradually add flour mixture and beat until blended. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375-degrees. Form dough into 1 inch balls. Roll each in sugar; place on greased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375-degrees for 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 1 minute. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool. Makes about 7 dozen cookies.
