The Original Toll House Cookies

  • 2¼ cup unsifted flour
  • ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 12-oz. (2 cups) pkg. Choc. Chips
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

    Preheat oven to 375-degrees. In small bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In large bowl, combine butter, sugars & vanilla extract; beat until creamy. Beat in eggs, and gradually add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tsp. onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375-degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 100 2" cookies.
